We love our volunteers! A group of Kennebunk Savings Employees pitched in at Hope on Haven Hill (HHH) this weekend. HHH is a therapeutic treatment program in a home environment for pregnant women with substance use disorder who are seeking recovery. They do incredible work for our community, and it's humbling to assist in whatever small ways we can. #community

[CW: Discussion of Suicide] At the end of 2023, we donated $10,000 to The Kita Center to support their programming and help them build a permanent home for their work in Acton, Maine. But what is The Kita Center and what do they do? We put together this video to help spread the word. If you or a loved one is struggling, do not hesitate to ask for help. Call or text 988 to start the conversation.

Financial Literacy Month is wrapping up, but we wanted to hear from one more of our coworkers who volunteers teaching financial literacy in schools. Sherrelle Riquinha loves working with students but sees plenty of continued opportunities for education as life goes on. "Ask your bankers and tellers questions," she says. "We are here to help you reach your goals and keep you safe from fraud along the way. No question is too silly, and no one should be afraid to ask questions about their finances." Well said, Sherrelle! #FinancialLiteracyMonth

Matthew Le is another active volunteer withJunior Achievement of Maine. “JA does a great job providing material that makes financial literacy fun and engaging,” Le says. “I’ve worked with 2nd and 3rd graders the past couple of years and it’s been amazing to see how much they already know at such a young age. My hope is that these students seeing me up there will feel encouraged to give back and do the same thing someday.” #FinancialLiteracyMonth

Kayleigh Erwin volunteers with Junior Achievement, taking students through a five-week financial literacy course. “My very first class we go over the choices we have with money: earn, save, spend and donate. I also give examples of emergencies such as a car breaking down, and needing money to fix it! I enjoy being able to explain money in a simple way for them to truly understand.” #FinancialLiteracyMonth

Lisa Randall, another prolific volunteer who spends time teaching financial literacy in schools, says she loves witnessing the “yearning to learn” in younger students. But she believes that financial literacy education is important for everyone! “You CAN do both,” she says, “live for today while also planning for your future!” #FinancialLiteracyMonth
