A Tale of Risk, Reward and RealisationIn April 2016, I married Ayesha, she had worked as a customer care executive at Emirates Airlines. Before the marriage, she left her job. She got a significant sum from PF and gratuity. I convinced her to invest the money in Mutual Funds. Despite my efforts, Ayesha initially chose to invest her savings in fixed deposits based on her father’s advice. However, in November 2019, she decided to break her FD and invest in mutual funds. I helped her choose a solid equity scheme. By January 2020, her investment was up by a small margin which made her happy.But in March 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and the market plunged by 37% from its peak, resulting in a mark-to-market loss in her investment. This period was intensely challenging for me—my professional expertise and knowledge were being questioned. Stuck at home due to lockdowns, I faced criticism about my profession and I experienced significant stress. I constantly tracked the NAV of her equity funds, and I even shared stories of past market corrections to justify the volatility.Over the following seven months, as the market slowly rebounded, her investment not only regained its initial value but also saw some appreciation. Through my persistent efforts, I successfully persuaded her to stay invested. Her patience has been rewarded, and her current mark-to-market returns are quite impressive. This incidence made me realise that I didn't know the risk tolerance of someone so close to me. I also understood that the job of my MFD friends, with whom I have worked for 16 years, is not as straightforward as I initially thought. I realised that they are not solely responsible for carrying out transactions, setting investment goals, or assisting investors in selecting the right scheme. The most crucial aspect of their role is managing the emotions of investors and instilling the necessary discipline needed to generate returns through mutual fund investments.Throughout a significant portion of my investment journey, I attempted to manage my investments independently but struggled to maintain discipline. It was only after seeking guidance from one of my MFD friends that I was able to accumulate a substantial corpus.It is essential to understand that stock market returns are inherently unpredictable, fluctuating, and volatile. To ensure a smooth investment journey, it is imperative to have a Mutual Fund Distributor (MFD) or Investment Advisor who can be - A companion during turbulent times.- A coach to assist in managing our emotions.- A Mentor to encourage additional investment during market corrections. - A Guide for effective asset allocation.- A friend who finds joy in our financial wellness.#mfd #mutualfunds #investmentadvisor #personalfinance #financialwellness #WealthCreation #investmentlesson

Today I completed 14 years in the great Organisation ‘Mirae Asset’. Here are my 14 learnings in last 14 years 1. Never compromise on your ethics values and principles. There will be times when you will be tempted by the external environment, that is the time to stick to the discipline and differentiate yourself from others2. Destroy your past. If your past is riddled with failures, it can dishearten you, while it is filled with achievements, it may induce complacency. Learn from the past and move forward.. 3. Strive not be the best but to be unique. Focus on individuality, originality and your distinct qualities rather than comparing yourself with others. It is applicable to individuals as well as organisations. 4. The essence of MF business lies in its simplicity and consistency. People value continuity above everything else, and simplicity is the key to achieving the stability.5. Change is perpetual. if you want to stay relevant then visualise future business environment and act accordingly…. 6. Humility is the ornament of achievers. Stay grounded and focused on the goals even when you are at peak of your career.7. Great leaders develop excellent leaders under them. They Continuously seek out talented individuals within the organization and prepare them for forthcoming leadership responsibilities.8. If you are hiring someone you are taking the responsibility of his whole family. Hire people as per requirement so that the organisation can take care of everyone in adverse business environment.. 9. Everything is not in your control. Control the controllable.Worrying about things outside your control will lead to unnecessary stress and anxiety. Be proactive and have pragmatic approach to life. 10. Sales is all about patience and perseverance. One should focus on the sales process and enjoy it. The outcomes will come with time.. Whenever it comes celebrate it..11. Self respect at work place is of utmost importance . Provide an environment at the workplace where everyone’s individuality and self esteem is taken care and every individual feels important in the system. 12. Transparency and minimum hierarchy.. Every person is important in the organisation. Every individual’s contribution should be visible by the top management and the credit should directly go to him.13. Maintaining Work-life balance is very important. It can lead to increased productivity, creativity, and overall satisfaction in both professional and personal realms.14. Believe in yourself , stay self motivated, continue to expand your knowledge, and continue making efforts . Acknowledge that each effort brings you one step closer to your goal. RM to Sales Head : My Kanpur JourneyI am delighted,honoured, humbled and overwhelmed with gratitude to stand as a National Sales Head in front of people of Kanpur who helped me in the initial days of my career and taught me the basics of MF business.Three lessons that I got from my MFD friends in Kanpur- We should be humble at all the times and focus on doing the basic and simple things right. - Think long term, sacrifice your short term interest for long term goals whether it is investment, career or personal life.- Mauka sabko milna chahiye, har kisi ki shuruaat zero se hoti hai, Koi chhota bada nahi hota,Jo achcha karega wo apne aap aage nikal jayega..
