These Peanut Butter Fritos are similar to Old Fashioned Corn Flake Candy if you’ve ever had that.
With the Corn Flake Candy, the cereal is stirred into the peanut butter mixture and then scooped out by spoonfuls onto waxed paper.
If preferred, you can do the same thing with Fritos Corn Chips.
🔑 Key to Success #1 – Use Regular Fritos Corn Chips
This Peanut Butter Fritos recipe is super easy!
It’s only 4 ingredients and you can’t beat that.
The first ingredient is Fritos corn chips.
You want the regular size and shape Fritos, not the Fritos Scoops.
Of course, you can experiment with different flavors and varieties of Fritos, but I recommend the regular Fritos Corn Chips.
Look for the 9-ounce bag of chips for this recipe.
That should be a good amount to use to fill a standard-sized 9×13-inch baking dish.
Grease the dish with non-stick cooking spray then spread out the Fritos to cover the bottom.
This is a no-bake recipe so the dish you use doesn’t really have to be oven-safe.
🔑 Key to Success #2 – Microwave the Sugar and Corn Syrup
The peanut butter mixture is a combination of granulated sugar, light corn syrup, and peanut butter.
You can make the peanut butter mixture on the stovetop or in the microwave.
We’re making ours in the microwave to save time.
First, stir together the sugar and corn syrup in a microwave-safe bowl.
Next, microwave the sugar mixture on high power for 1 minute then stir well.
Continue microwaving in 1-minute increments until the sugar starts to boil.
You want the sugar mixture to be fully boiling and not just bubbling around the edges.
Finally, remove the sugar from the microwave and stir in the peanut butter.
Stir until the peanut butter is fully combined and the mixture is smooth.
🔑 Key to Success #3 – Pour the Peanut Butter Mixture Over Fritos Corn Chips
Once the peanut butter mixture is smooth, pour it all over the Fritos corn chips.
Pour it slowly and make sure all the chips are covered with the peanut butter.
Do not stir the peanut butter mixture into the chips.
Only pour the peanut butter mixture over and coat the chips well.
The peanut butter mixture will seep down between the chips.
Allow the chips to sit until the peanut butter mixture is completely cool.
When cool, cut into bars with a sharp, serrated knife.
